Vivosmart 4 music control does not appear to work with Spotify?

The vivosmart 4 music control function opens Google Music whenever I activate it, even when Spotify is open and playing in the background. Consequently, I disabled Google Music on my phone, started playing music on Spotify on my phone and tried again. This time around, nothing happens when I press play/pause/forward/rewind on my vivosmart 4. Retried with my podcast app, and saw a similar lack of response.

I was hoping to use the vivosmart 4 music control function with Spotify and my podcast app. Does anyone have any tips on fixing that or is vivosmart 4 regretably not compatible with other Spotify and the like? Thanks in advance for any input!

Please send this to Garmin Support.

What I learned from support: Problems/issues/bugs on users forum does not make it out of this post.

Chat usually does not work, on phone you just have to deal with 'music' for long time, and email form is showing only 'after hours'

I have a vívosmart hr but I managed to fix the problem by disabling the app. If you go to settings -> apps/apps and features and then find the app the watch uses as a default then deactivate it it should hopefully work. I managed to fix my problem this way and want to pass on the information since music is important when I work out. Reply if it helps Blush

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, vivosmart 4 does not have the default app options within Garmin Connect itself, therefore I had to toggle and turn off the default apps within the phone's settings - which did not work either.

I have sent this issue to Garmin Support. I hope they figure something out and update the software to rectify this buggy music function. Or if someone found another solution to this, do drop a comment. Slight smile
