Vivosmart 4 stuck on weird screen, menu button does nothing - how to restart device?

My vivosmart 4 is stuck on some weird screen where the menu button doesn’t do anything: https://imgur.com/a/eLRWVvy/

Basically it’s stuck on this screen with a 0 at the top, happened after I tried to start a running activity. Pressing the menu button just refreshes the screen, double tapping the screen cycles the 0 between the heart icon, and the steps icon, but the screen itself is still blank and the menu button still does nothing. Syncing works fine but again it stays stuck on this screen.

It was previously working fine for months, and running the latest v2.90 firmware.

How do I restart the watch other than wait for it to run out of battery in a week? All of the official troubleshooting steps assume that the menu button takes you to the menu.

Maybe try to go into your phone settings, forget the device, then go to the app and remove the device there. Then try to re-pair the device to the app and see if that triggers a reset.

I didnt have quite the same problem with being stuck on the screen however when my menu button stopped working i simply plugged it into the laptop and it started working again. Not sure if that will help

I’m having this same exact problem every time I start the Running activity, except for the first time (I’ve had this tracker for two weeks). The other activities I do - walking and yoga - seem fine. If I get a big goal, like “3 Day Streak” or something like that, it’ll finally get me out of that screen. Haven’t tried plugging it in because I’ve been lucky enough to get these notifications before my run is over.

  • I also had a blank screen. But I discovered that there was some tiny particles on the back of my Vivosmart 4 that were stopping it from charging. Once I cleaned the charging port it charged up again and was good to go.
