Auto activity start stops too soon

How can I make my VS4 keep tracking my (walk) activity for a walk if I stop lots. Clearly my 12 activities between1pm-3pm I did one activity. Sometimes I stop to talk, wait for a draw bridge or wait for a train crossing or my dog... but it should be recorded as a 2 hour walk, 6km, 12345steps etc and not 12 separate activities. HOW DO I STOP THE VS4 FROM PREMATURELY STOPPING MY ACTIVITY.

Especially unfortunate for my Strava data where it records all these mini walks :)

SUGGESTIONS?

If you're relying on the auto-walk detection feature, it is pretty finicky and stops itself when you've stopped moving (duh). You're suppose to activate the tracking feature directly from the menu and that timer never stops until you double tap it or dismiss/save it with the single tap button.

I asked Garmin for the power to alter the recorded activities such as changing dates and times but they said it isn't allowed, probably to prevent people messing up their data. Other apps like Cardiogram let you control this but it is only recorded in their app, not the official record.
