Some (known?) software niggles

So I got the vivosmart 4 yesterday (actually planned to get the 3 yet found the 4 already in stock) and there are some issues.

Firstly, I cannot set heart rate monitoring as my home widget. I don't know if this is some archaic remnant of past times where this function
wasn't always on or something but I do not understand why I am not able to set it to show what it is continually monitoring anyway.
I can set (almost) all other apps as my home widget, either directly or by having it stay on the last used widget but not heart rate,
the mobile software even specifically makes mention of this. There is also no watch face available which shower heart rate.

I am a bit dumbfounded why this isn't possible and I dislike using workarounds like starting an activity.

Secondly, I am unable to change / order widgets through the mobile software, it just does not save correctly.
The PC software makes me fare better yet I cannot select music control or phone notifications with it (they are just not in the list).

Thirdly, the calorie tracker on my phone differs from what the device is saying,
when I opened the PC software the programs momentarily synced before returning to a discrepancy of about 10%.

All in all I'm hoping to make good use of my device, which would probably be a bit more enjoyable if the software was more streamlined.
If anyone has any tips I'm all ears!

Me too the same problem, if I try to order widget from garmin connect app on my android, nothing appens. If I try use garmin connect https://connect.garmin.com it returns me an error message that inform me that the modification hasn't been saved

The only way to make my widget working is
    1. esc from garmin app connect
    2. make modification on widget order in https://connect.garmin.com
    3. restart garmin app on your mobile
    4. make sync

Garmin software quality for it first releases are always instable....
  • I haven't gotten the error message in PC Garmin connect so far.

I suppose that mainly concerns the issue with widgets, I've now read about the other issues with numerous devices.
Another one being that the vivosmart isn't well suited for accurately monitoring heart rates during strength training (and HITT in general presumably).

It's ANT+ certified so in theory I could connect it to a chest strap... yet I've seen people request that function without luck already for other devices.

Maybe I should have informed myself better in advance, I'd thought the technology would be adequate for what I wanted at this time.
As a stress prone lightweight with an affinity for strength training and a fairly active job I'd hoped to gain insight into calories used at work, during training,
monitor stress levels during the day (for which I would liked to have the heart rate widget active continuously) and gain insight into my sleep patterns.

I'm wondering if I can realistically expect that or if I'm better of returning it.

It sat right next to the Vivosmart 3 in a local Mediamarkt (the Netherlands), I was surprised to discover it.
