Watch won’t shift to correct time

On vacation in Central America, the time here is 2 hrs later than home. The watch will not switch from home time to local time. The iPhone is synced to local time. Watch hands are properly aligned. I even tried forcing the iPhone to manual time & that didn’t cause the watch to change time. Displaying the watch’s internal digital time shows it’s the watch’s time not mechanical issue.

what can be done?

Does your watch sync correctly (aside from the time issue)?

If you go in the watch menu (not in the phone app), under "Setting -> Time -> Time Source" make sure that the option "Auto" is selected and try to sync again with the phone. If it still does not work, selecting "manual" you should be able to set the correct time on the watch.

I didn’t know those settings existed but I found them. It seemed to be on auto but I flipped it back and forth ; after that it synced to the correct time.
