Fitbit ionic a much better watch

And I thought fitbit ionic had its issues, man it's got nothing compared to the vivomove hr.

at least when I biked, it used my dumbbells my ionic showed an increase in hr as it should, biking also the hr worked.

The Viviomove hr is the worst ever watch at recording your HR. My vivomove wont record any proper hr unless I am halfway through a bike ride, and only after 4-8km will ot start recording as it should. Bumbells and getting a little puffed and sweat wont register an increase in HR.

The only time it records hr to any kind of accuracy is resting or walking, but recording sleep is hopeless as just relaxing is recorded as sleep

my ionic gets it near perfect everytime. Think fitbit ionic has its issues, but is a dream compared to the Viviomove hr.

dont know if mine is faulty or not, but emailed the store I got it from, what's the use of a watch that does not record hr when doing physical exercise, looks like back to my ionic again.
  • I do not have the vivomove anymore. I returned it but when i was biking, the HR looked right. I also wore the watch higher on my arm. I am now using a forerunner 935 as I can use a chest strap. The vivomove did not allow that. Try to wear the watch under your arm instead of above. I streamed the HR to my phone mounted on the handlebar.

I have a chest strap now, so will use this. My ionic has not issues, so seems fitbit maybe up there now with the best hr optical sensors, whereas garmin have now become the worst. My ionic gives great results right from the start of biking, whereas the vivomove can take anywhere between 10-20 mins before you see accurate hr results.

how come garmin cannot get it right, whereas with the fitbit ionic, no issues throughout biking, no warmup needed.
  • I did not think you could connect a chest strap to either ionic or vivomove. If you look at the ionic forum, a lot of users are complaining about HR accuracy. I think it depends on the user's physiology. I had a fitbit blaze and i loved it but in HIIT, HR was not good. My garmin forerunner or the vivomove were better. So you have to pick your poison.

Since I cycle and have an edge 510 bike computer use the hr chest strap, as anything other than walking, or maybe running this watch is hopeless.
