Is there a trick to the double tap?

I can get the double tap to work maybe 1 out of every three tries. Do other people find this to be the case too, or do I have a dud? Or maybe there is a special way to double tap (e.g. whole finger to the side, a special place at the bottom?). So far I haven't found a way that works better than others. Thanks for any help!

there is no trick i think! i searched the best tap that works for me. everyone is different of course. i tap double with my index finger pulp flat and hard a bit on the area between number 6 and the hands center. works perfect.
  • Hmm, I tried that and it's worked 100% of the time in my first 10 tries now. I think I was just being too gentle and expected the "touch" to wake it more than the "tap". Thanks - Guess that's the trick!
  • Maybe help to somebody: i use my index finger nail and triple tap.

I have trouble with double tap too.  Seems like I always have to double tap twice to get it to work.  Have tried a more firm tap in the past and that didn't seem to help for me.

  • I seem to need to double tap it with two fingers. My Venu arrived from Amazon UK just two days ago. It seems to work when my index finger hits the screen right near where the 6 would be and my middle finger above it.

It's weird that it seems to take so much effort to get it to work.

It does not work very well. I thought implementing a double tap was easy, but it seems it is not (or Garmin has not yet figured out how to do it).

It works if you “tap” it just hard enough to vibrate it (so it’s still a tap, not a strike).

Why? My first guess is that Garmin deactivates the touch sensor at idle, which saves a ton of battery and a lot of tapping by accident.

  • Using your nail works well for me, took me a while to figure out though!
