Vivomove HR (Sport) Initial Impression

We pick up VivoMove HR (Sport) from BestBuy couple days ago and the initial impression is, we love it.

Coming from VivoSmart HR, we are looking for a lightweight and easy to use activity tracker that has some extra features (time, alarm and notifications). GPS and golfing are not essential features for us. We like our VivoSmart HR, but it is not the most elegant activity tracker (ugly) in the market.

VivoMove HR looks like a modestly priced watch (sub hundred dollar Timex?), feel light, comfortable and much more attractive than VivoSmart HR. Set up is a breeze and all functionalities work as advertised. Coming from VivoSmart family, you will feel right at home. Love the "Do Not Disturb" feature especially if you use it as sleep tracker. Compare to VivoSmart HR, vibration (alarm and notifications) is much lighter but you can set it to high.

One major concern that we have is the screen readability, especially under the bright sunlight. Compare to VivoSmart HR, the texts are less legible, mainly due to the reflection from the glass (hint to Garmin, anti-reflection coating). The auto brightness will kick-in in couple of seconds and make the texts brighter. That does help a little. Overall, screen readability is a lot better than what we expected. The OLED works wonderfully in low light, again, the auto brightness works wonder (takes couple of seconds).

We are not sure about battery life yet but will update that information after a week of use.

Overall, if you need an activity tracker that easy to use, lightweight and comfortable, most of all, you are not "ashamed" to wear it everyday, GPS, golfing and Garmin Pay are not essential features for you, give VivoMove HR a try.

Update: After 3 full days of usage, battery level is at 55%, so 5 full days usage per charge (advertised) shouldn't be a problem.

How strong is the vibration? I had the vivoactive (the first one) and it was always an issue for me.
Also, are the watch hands luminous in the dark?
    Thanks

Does it support notifications/messages in Korean? On my old Vivosmart HR Korean characters appear as diamonds with question marks in them in messages and as blanks in e-mails. I was hoping that the new Vivomove HR would support East Asian languages in notifications. I was going to post a sample word in Korean here, but the forum replaces it with "?????" (a hint to the answer of the question maybe :)), so I'll post a link to google translate instead: https://translate.google.com/#en/ko/Hello

I've asked support about this but only managed to get a "may or may not work in some editions of the product, maybe" reply. I intend to use English as the system language, but I'll get messages in multiple languages.

How about the thickness of the watch? It looks a lot slimmer/flatter than the Vivosmart HR in the photo.

    Gubro:
    1) The intensity of vibration on medium setting is "softer" compare to VivoSmart HR, but you can set it to high if you like. I have it on medium and it is working for me as I am a light sleeper. My partner has it set on high.
    2) Unfortunately, the watch hands are not luminous in the dark. However, the OLED screen will provide you the same info (time/steps/messages...)

    mrdeus:
    1) I've checked via Connect app, there is no Korean under Garmin Devices -> VivoMove HR -> Device Settings -> System -> Language. In fact, there is no Korean for VivoActive HR too. So, I don't think you will see messages in Korean display on your device, sorry. I've tried to receive messages in Korean and Chinese, none of them shows (just blank texts).
    2) Yes, VivoMove HR is about 43mm round (diameter) and 11.6mm thick while VivoSmart HR is 50mm (about) x 21mm and 15mm thick (because of that about 2.5mm HR sensor, which I HATE!). So, yes, VivoMove HR is more like a traditional round-face watch, it is thinner then VivoSmart HR.

As for the photos, my wrist's circumference is about 175mm, if that helps.

vinhwng: Yes you can. Double-tap to activate the OLED display. Hold it for a few seconds for the Setting screen. From there you can turn the HR monitor on/off.

Just because you can get 5 days, does not mean you should. If you charge from 50%, your battery will last 3x longer and 4x tge battery cycles.

basically if you charged from 80% full it every 5th charge amounts to 1 battery cycle, as a cycle is from 0 to 100%.

when you go below 50% and recharge it, it becomes harder on the battery the further you go below 50%.

your better off charging every 3 days than try stretching it out to 5 days.

I have had 4.5 days and battery was down to %37. So in 5 days your really straining your battery lifespan.
