No Swim Icon to Record Swims

I'm following the instructions exactly, but I cannot find a Swim icon to record a swim. It's not the end of the world if I can't do this, but this is functionality I was looking forward to. Maybe there's a step I'm missing. Help?

took me a few hours to work this one out - you'll need to use Garmin Connect, either through the website or the app to add the swim function, then sync your device.
