No distance recorded for Garmin Vivoactive 3 when cross country skiing

I couldn't find any forum for the old Vivoactive 3, but maybe someone knows? The watch does not record distance, only time and speed for cross country skiing. However, it works for running. My wife has same problem with her Apple watch.

You can access all subforuns trough the menu at the top. All Vivoactive models are in the section Sports & Fitness
