Vivoactive 3 Music not detecting steps and heart rate monitor has stopped working. The battery is also draining fast and the touchscreen and buttons are very slow to respond. Have done usual checks/resets.

Three days ago, my Vivoactive 3 Music stopped detecting any steps and the heart rate monitor stopped working. The battery is also draining fast and the touchscreen and buttons are very slow to respond. The watch is also erratic - at times it skips seconds, then catches up around 15 seconds all at once. It can still record an activity.

I've done all the usual checks - everything is enabled - and hard and factory resets but to no avail. The green sensor lights blink after hard reset but then stop after that. Shortly before all these problems started, I wore the watch to go swimming. I've done this dozens of times and it's never been a problem, but I'm wondering if it could be a broken seal somewhere? Is there a fix, or is my watch now fit only for the bin? I'm currently on holiday doing lots of mountain walks and not being able to record my activities is a real shame.

  • I have the same problem. I also wore mine in the pool and now stopped working. It started with the touch screen being slow to respond and then when I reset it the green light sensor stopped working. Vibration also doesn't work. And not getting notifications from phone. I've done a hard reset and re synch of the device but nothing has worked so far. Also on hols and doing activities. Should I just get a new one that is actually waterproof???

  • Sorry to hear you have the same problem. It's been a few days now and my watch still isn't back to normal. It is recording activities by itself, but not actually counting anything, and repeatedly giving me notifications from my phone, even after I've dismissed them, in addition to the issues mentioned above. I was hoping it might dry out but as the days pass, it's looking more and more likely that I'll have to buy a new watch. I'm going to write to Garmin and see if they can suggest anything. I hope you find the answer you're looking for!
