Stock Watch Band Causing Skin irritation

Hi Garmin people.

I have the forerunner 945 and the watch band kills my skin. I don't think it's a rash. I think that the skin can't breath at all so it ends up killing the skin cells under the band.

Are there any suggested replacement bands? Seems like Garmin could design a better band that is more breathable. People wear these 24/7 so it's insane that they use this rubber/plastic band that is so tight your skin can't breath.

  • Check the threads to the right of this page. Many of us including me in the same situation were sent replacement watch bands for no charge by contacting Garmin support.

In my case my watch was out of warrantee by more than a year.

  • I'm the same. I've had mine for over a year and just a few weeks ago developed a rash but I think it's not the rubber strap, I thinks it's the metal buckle

  • I've had my watch for less than a year but just started getting the rash a few weeks ago, it's quite unpleasant. I contacted Garmin support via the chat and they said that someone would be contacting me about this. Did they send you a new watch band of the same material or a nylon one?

  • No contact so far and I have not had time to chase them but will do in the next few days ;) I started cleaning it after every run but doesn't help :(

  • I had to do a phone call so they would send me a nylon band. The customer service guy was completely rude about it. Asked me many questions and acted like it was my fault. $800 watch...not sure I'll be going Garmin next time. I was taking it off during showers and alternating wrists... it was killing my skin on both wrists. The band doesn't breath.

  • We are sorry to hear about the issue you are reporting. The skin irritation may be a result of build-up on the watch band and/or casing. You should discontinue wearing your watch until your skin has healed.
