Vivoactive 3 losing battery life while plugged in

My Vivoactive 3 was not charging a few days ago. I cleaned the connection with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol as I always have in the past when I’ve had this problem. It charged to 100%. Today, I  connected to the charger again but while it was plugged in and showing it was charging, it went from 36% to 3% battery life in a short time. I can’t get it to charge while plugged in.

  • My Vivoactive 3 has been playing up too for about 10 weeks now, when the battery % gets low or down to 0% .  VERY FRUSTRATING!! I have kept a log of what I have done each time it won't charge and it seems to be very random as to when it charges again or doesn't.  At times the screen is blank and has no response. At other times a lightning symbol in a battery appears.  At other times this lightning symbol flashes quickly to a green triangle and back to the lightning symbol when I push the button. I've tried in various combinations/orders:

    1. Cleaning contacts

    2. Charging from a USB of i) my computer, ii) the wall, iii) a powerpack

    3. Long pressing the button

    4. Disconnecting and re-connecting to power source

    5. Leaving plugged in overnight

    6. Plugging it into my computer and turning on Garmin Express app and trying to update or sync (GE doesn't "find" my Vivoactive, but it sometimes syncs)

So far eventually it has started to charge and if I don't touch it it charges fully. If I pick it up it might stop charging, or not. Sometimes the time is correct, sometimes not. Sometimes it buzzes prior to charging.

Any help from Garmin or anyone else would be appreciated. I can't rely on having my Vivoactive actually in working order for my workouts anymore
