I get so tired of these updates affecting battery life. There is no notification that an update has happened, unless you happen to see it. We pay for these devices and Garmin updates them without any way for you to stop it or know about it.
Hi,
Not a good reply maybe, but i give my VA3 to a friend and it use it without specific battery drain, running 8.20.
But, following my recommendation and return of experience with this device, no third-party watchface/widget/datafield/etc. and after each update a Force shutdown.

In the past i only encounter battery drain because of third-party Store software. I have installed some Garmin Watchface from the store without issue.
And now i do the with my F6Pro since the beginning, everything is OK
Hello, I have a Vivoactive 3 and I loved it until the battery drained within 3 hours without GPS or doing any activity. I currently have update 8.2 and this is where the problem comes from as it didn't happen before that. When are you going to release an update to fix this issue?? I want to use my smartwatch!
I have already written in the German forum because my battery is empty in about 30 to 40 minutes during an activity. If the device is switched off, the battery drains by approx. 50% within 24 hours
My call to the support hotline took 41 minutes - I waited 40 minutes and then I was able to talk for 30 seconds, then I was thrown off the line.
And then, I was speechless for 30 seconds.....
This is Garmin Support :-(
Because of your situation, do not hesitate.
Remove all third-party non Garmin app/watchface/widget/datafield.
Connect your watch to a computer, copy all content from Garmin\Activity folder, then remove all files older than a month. (if you sync your watch with GC or GE, all your activities are on your Garmin Personal Account)
Then do a force reload
Well, I've now done everything as described here. After removing all old files and resetting the clock to factory settings, I was able to fully charge the battery again. I was then able to use the watch for two (2!) days, after which the battery was dead. After the second charge, the battery only lasted about 14 hours - after the third charge everything was back to normal (battery lasts about 6 to 8 hours in normal operation, i.e. without activity)
I repeated the process but I think the battery is defective. The battery takes about 1 hour to charge and is empty again after about 6 to 8 hours without any activity. During an activity, the battery is empty after about 30 to 40 minutes.
