I have this problem from time-to time. The way I fix it is to spray WD40 on the end of the cable that plugs into the watch and the connector on the watch. Then I brush it with a toothbrush.

Thank you for that information. I've moved this thread into the vivoactive 3 forum (was Garmin Connect forum) for better visibility from Garmin as well as other vivoactive 3 users.

Garmin support recommends doing that with rubbing alcohol. I find WD-40 works better for me.
