Garmin Software Updates

Every time Garmin decides to "update" the smartwatch software, it takes me a few days to a week to get it to connect to my smart phone. I almost always have to end up removing the Garmin connect software from my phone and reinstalling it to get it to work. Doing this, of course, results in all my data being lost. Is there a way to prevent Garmin from "updating" my software? It's not worth the hassle. My wife woke up today to the depressing news that Garmin updated her software. This was about 90 minutes ago, and she still can't get the watch to synch to her phone. This means that I will more than likely have to waste a couple hours of my time today getting mine to synch. Enough already! Give us the option of refusing your "updates" which cause nothing but pain with no discernable benefits.

  • That should not be necessary. It seems to me that simply restarting your watch and maybe also your phone should be more than enough. It happens to me very rarely but when I can't connect, simply turning off Bluetooth on the phone and turning it on again does the trick.

Also, what I have found is that if there are 2 devices in range with Bluetooth turned on, they conflict with each other. Turning one of the device's Bluetooth until it connects tot he other also solves the problem for me.
