Blue/Green Triangle

Hi

My Vivoactive 3 has a triangle on the screen and keeps vibrating. I have tried turning it off by holding the power button for 10secs, but when i turn it back on it goes back to the screen and vibrates.  I have tried plugging it in to the laptop, but it won't pick up that the device is connected.

Any other ideas?

  • Copied from an old thread:

    hold 15 seconds back button

    wait for shut down
    hold 2 seconds both buttons
    wait for first vibration
release back button and hold menu button wait for second vibration release menu button Wait a minute or more until it restart
That is how I was able to reset to VA when it was frozen in the garmin logo Hope it could help you
Press to turn on with Logo -> Release then press and hold (quickly!)
Release when it vibrates 2 times, wait for 3rd vibration then press and hold until the 4th vibration

EDIT:: THE button trick worked. But to add to it, after the 4th vibration, you need to release. Then there will be a 5th vibration and the unit rebooted fine. I did the updates again and everything is working fine now.
  • HI

I don't think I can do this as the Vivoactive 3 has only one button (as far as I am aware)

  • Sorry, I looked again. That was for my old VA1.

I graduated long ago to the VA3. If you don't find a less drastic solution, you can try a hard reset.

    Hard Reset on vivoactive 3:

    • Press and hold the side button for 30+ seconds until the screen is completely blank
    • Leave off for a full minute
    • Press the side button again to power back on
  • I tried that too and it didn't work. I contacted Garmin support who gave the following advice, that, after a few attempts worked.

*Power unit off *Turn the unit on with the Key *As soon as the display turns on, press and hold the key *After the unit vibrates twice, release the key *Wait for another vibration and press and hold the key *Wait for another vibration and then release the key *Wait for the watch to finish booting, it should go to the startup wizard

    Thanks for your help

  • Timing is a little tricky to get but this did a factory reset and disrupted the boot loop problem.  Now its locked up on a new screen...seems to be trying to connect to something. vivoactive 3 music 3 year old

  • What "key" are you referring to?  There's only one button on the Garmin Vivoactive 3....

  • I had a VA 3 Music with green triangle, but no vibrating. The battery had "died" - ie no charge, and the green triangle appeared. I connected it to my computer overnight to charge and green triangle was still there this morning. I tried to clean the contacts of VA3 and charge cord. Plugged it back in - still nothing except the green triangle. So I held the button for about 30". It vibrated, went blank, then green triangle. Held button again. went blank, vibrated then screen showed that it was 85% charged. It is now charging properly and seems to be working. I guess just keep holding the button? and see if that helps...
