Lost screen, wont reset?

Screen gradually went black over 24hr period. Reset several time to no avail. Now screen is black, wont reset, is not recording data eg steps. No communication with Garmin Connect.

  • Did you try to connect it to a PC ? Will it register with Garmin Express or show up as a drive in explorer ?

  • Will not connect to PC, will not sync with Garmin Connect, does not show up as a drive. It will buzz when I connect it to PC.

  • It buzzes when it starts, so at least it is not completely dead yet. Give it a minute and then press and hold the button to reset it. You need to press the button fully for at least 15 seconds, you probably wont see it going off. Keep it on the PC and press the button again to start it. 

    The Master reset is a bit more complicated, I will see if I can find that recipe. I fear though your device is broken and we are doing last resort activities, but you might be lucky. 

  • You can also try a master reset (which Garmin sometimes proposes to set things back to original). 

    Master reset of the vivoactive 3:


    - Switch off device (if necessary, press and hold button for 15 seconds).
    - Press button briefly to switch on device.
    - As soon as the Garmin logo (blue triangle) appears, press and hold the button until the watch vibrates twice. Then release the button.
    - Wait for the third vibration and press and hold the button again until the fourth vibration.

    If everything was done correctly, you should be able to select the language again.

    But ATTENTION: All data will be deleted! Back up with Garmin Express if you still want to.

    - Remove your watch from the Garmin Connect App, as well as from the Bluetooth settings of your smartphone: "Remove and add devices in the Garmin Connect App ".
    - Uninstall the Connect app again, and then turn off your smartphone completely for a few minutes.
    - After you have turned it back on, reinstall the Connect app on your phone and log in with your usual user data
    - First, put the vivoactive 3 n pairing mode: activate Bluetooth pairing mode on the vivoactive 3 series and then press "Add device" in the Connect app.
    - Enter the six-digit pin code displayed on your watch.
    - Follow the further instructions of the Connect app

    Be aware that you probably need to remove the watch from connect and bluetooth to pair again.
