Battery Drain Vivoactive 3 Music

Hi all,

As the title says, my V3 Music has started rapidly draining battery with no reasoning behind it. I am running SW 6.0 which i believe is the latest for the Music?

A week ago would happily get 2-3 days with limited usage, 1 run with music and a round of golf, but recently I have been leaving for work with it at 100% and when I get home it's at <20%. Just normal use at work, no activities going etc.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this? I have had the watch 14 months now. No settings/watch face have been change for a while now...

TIA!

  • Hi there! Do you have any CIQ apps downloaded? Can you tell me where you are located so I can point you in the direction of the right support!

  • The same thing is going on with the Vivoactive 3 (non-music version, software 7.80) and there is lots of discussion in here about it, but Garmin won't do anything.  Here in the forums they tell you to contact support and lock down the discussion as if the problem has been solved. But support just provides canned responses about how to make your battery last longer which is not the issue.  The issue is the software "upgrade" which basically ruined the watch because you have to charge it twice a day now.

They'll just tell you that your watch is out of warranty.  So I guess they intentionally ruin watches now after the warranty runs out in order to make you buy new?  Maybe the programmers just F'd up on accident, I don't know, but they won't acknowledge it or fix it and they do not care.

  • It does not seem related to software updates in the sense that not all devices experience this behavior. There are some different hardware versions of the watches do that might explain some, but from all the posts I see that for some a factory reset after an update seems to help a bit, suggesting that the measurement of the actual charge is wrong after an update and a complete charge cycle might set the software on the right track again. So perhaps you could try a reset and/or let it continue until it auto shuts down and then re-charge ?

  • Thanks for the reply,

I have let the watch auto shut down a few days ago to no avail, I will attempt a factory rest llet when I get home tonight.

  • Did it work for you ?

  • this is crazy, why can't garmin fix this issue? Clearly a software issue since it started happening after 7.8

  • I complained correctly and often enough to Garmin support to where they offered to send me a replacement vivoactive 3 for free. However, I'm thinking once it arrives and updates to 7.8 it will drain just the same. Maybe only certain varieties of hardware do it, so we'll see. If this happens they told me to contact them again. It arrives in two days so I'll let you all know!

  • My non-music version has the same issue. Started to rapidly discharge near a week ago.

  • Hello,

My vivoactive 3 is also draining the battery. Software version 7.80
