Vivoactive 3 heartrate completely inaccurate

I have a Vivoactive 3 and when doing workouts (cardio) my heart rate will be around 60-80bpm despite the fact I'm doing HIIT and when calculating my heartrate via pulse (I'm not a doctor) but beating at approx 130 bpm. And as soon as I stopped the workout, just sitting down, my watch said my heart rate was at 109bpm

I even recently went for a walk with my sister who also has a vivoactive 3 and her heart rate was averaged at 115bpm while mine was 70 which is completely inaccurate.

Is there a reason for this and how does this get fixed? I'm not expecting it to be 100% accurate however would be nice yo be in the same ball park! Its not even close at the moment.

Only time it seems to work a little is when running.

  • Actually 115 seems as high for a walk as 70 seems low. This may or may not help. My first wrist-based HRM was a Scoche. It took me a few times to find a sweet spot on wrist for readings that seemed accurate. What I found was moving it up my arm to a more fleshy area and tightening the band one or 2 notches made a huge difference.

  • I'm having issues with inaccurate HR as well in a separate post. I will try your suggestion of moving it up the arm.
