Error Sync Failed Messagewriteerror(message: "exhausted retries") Vivoactive3 watch

My Vivoactive 3 watch has not updated the calendar since Friday 9 July 2021, the watch and Garmin Connect are paired and go through the sync process updating "My Day" but the information does not appear in calendar.

In Garmin Devices it shows that Vivoactive 3 is connected but there is an exclamation mark in a red circle, when this is touched the error message above appears with an option to either close or Sync Now which doesn't work, the error message is just returned.
