I live in Canada so my watch is set in Km's for running which turns out put my golfing yardage in Meters. I tired charging the yardage to YARDS in the garmin golf app but my watch stayed still in Meters for golf. In order to put your golf in yards, you need to go to the system setting and change the running units to Miles. Your golf yardage should then change to Yards.
I don't know why Garmin can't figure out how program individual activity settings properly and their customer service is dismal, so hopefully this post helps someone out.
