Vivoactive 3 screen freezes constantly

My Vivoactive 3  touch screen freezes. Otherwise the watch works normally.  The only way to activate again touch screen is by hard reset. The freezing appears almost every day, or other day with no apparent reason. Sometimes even after hard reset  the screen remains unresponsive and I have to hard reset several times before screen starts responding

  • I was never able to resolve the issue with the device. If it is still covered under warranty, consider replacing it

  • Hi Many, this happened to me in the last few weeks and i was not able to track steps, heart rate, activities, etc. it seems like there has been a recent update by garmin not able to go through my vivoactive 3. below is what i did to disable the update:

    1. disable the auto update in garmin connect and garmin express;

    2. connect my vivoactive 3 to a computer, and then look at the garmin drive on the computer and locate the folder \GARMIN\REMOTESW

    3. delete file GUPDATE.GCD in the folder. I suspect this is the auto update file that created by garmin connect/garmin express because if the auto update is enable, the file will show up in the folder once you sync the watch.

    4. disconnect the vivoactive 3 and restart.

    hopefully Garmin will fix this update shortly.
