Battery life higher than displayed

Hello,

I was out for a cycle today and was trying to get to 100km. When I got to 70km (3.5 hours into the ride) a notification popped up saying the battery was low. I had to abandon the ride at 78km to make sure that I didn't lose any data. I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and charged it to 100% before I set off.

It is now an hour later and the battery is now saying that it has 27% left! I haven't charged it using the USB cable, potato or otherwise.

Is there a way to fix this? It would have been really annoying to have lost that data, but I'm even more annoyed that I could have kept going and finished my ride.

Thanks,

Eric

  • Doesn’t answer the question, but rather than risk loosing data and cutting the ride short one could stop the activity at a point it looks risky.  Then start a new activity.  One may loose some of the 2nd activity but not the entire ride.
