Garmin HRM dual connects and then disconnects to vivio active 3

I just bought the Garmin HRM-dual strap. It will connect to my vivio active 3 but then disconnect seconds later. I’m wearing the strap. I turned the wrist monitoring off so I can tell just by looking at the watch if it’s connected or not. I’ll connect it through the settings ->apps and accessories, it will connect. But when I go back to the main screen, it’ll show the hr for a few seconds and then disappear. If I go try to connect it again, it connects, only to disconnect again moments later. Any thoughts?

    Sensors&Accessories will only connect for a short time, and it's a catch 22, in that when you go there, it will try to connect.

    Try something like the run activity, and it will connect and stay connected.
