Charge display showing even though my watch is disconnected

I just charged my Garmin Vivoactiv 3. I then disconnected it but it is still showing the charge display. Have tried to turn it off and start again but the button doesn't do anything.

Any help or advice?

hold the button in for 10-20 seconds until the watch shuts down. Then after a few seconds hit the button to turn it back on.

This is often referred as a soft reset - it does not erase your settings but often you will loose the steps for the day.
