Treadmill is calculating distance very wrong

Hi

What I am using the garmin to calculate my treadmill training it is calculation very wrong. I have set the lengt of the steps to custom both waliking af running. But if i eg. run 3 km the garmin only shows 2,3-2,4 km is there any ways I can do to improve that.

  • Did you set the length based on the calibration feature or just in Connect?

If you didn't use the calibration feature, you need to do at least a 1 mile or 1.5 KM walk on the treadmill and when you stop the activity, press the 3 dots in the red section of the display and choose calibrate.

That being said, I find that things change depending on speed variation, the running shoes I wear, and how often I hold on to the guardrail. What I also notice is that my first mile is often different than my second mile, etc. as I loosen up.

  • I am not sure i get the possibility to press the 3 dots as I dont think they are there - but I will check later today and tell what I can do. Thanks for answer till now. I have just done it in my phone software.

  • When you stop an activity, you have the green save option on the top and the red (usually cancel) area at the bottom of the watch.

After a treadmill activity of a mile or more, the red area shows 3 dots and leads to the calibrate option.
