Vivoactive 3 - Extended pause

Former Member
Former Member

Hi there!

Has anyone figured out how to pause for an extended time (e.g. when eating lunch in the middle of a long hike) and then resume without losing data or creating two separate activities?

Thanks!
Kelly

  • There are two options. Auto pause when stopped does as it says and you can set it to freeze recording when your speed drops or when it detects no movement. The readings at the end of the activity take into account the shorter distance and less overall time as a result of for instance a lunch or coffee stop. The other option is to simply stop and start the activity. The watch asks you if you want to retain the information when you stop it. The info is picked up again when you restart.

    Thank you so much!

My watch actually doesn't ask me if I want to retain the information. It just asks if I want to save or discard the activity. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong...

  • You keep your watch on auto pause to give you activity readings you can compare. Or save the first half then save the second half to give you a map and activity readings, albeit in two "takes". You can merge the two on Garmin Connect via the "combine" instruction.
