Starting an activity stops music / Bluetooth connection

I have now the second time this phenomena with my Vivoactive 3 music:

Fault description:

  • Vivoactive 3 paird to BT headphones
  • Music playing
  • Start an activity (e.g. running)
  • Headphones get disconnected
  • Start music again (press play)
  • BT headphones connect for 1-3 s and disconnect again

Expected behaviour:

  • Music player via BT headphones should work in parallel with tracking an activity

Remarks:

  • I had this issue a few weeks ago already. I found a thread here, where the solution was to do a factory reset. This helped
  • I am on the newest software version (5.8). I am not sure, if the software update broke the functionality, since I don't know, when the SW update came
  • Resetting every time to factory settings should not be the permanent fix for this issue

Is this issue known?

  • I’ve been having very similar issues since a Bluetooth update was automatically applied to my watch last week (I had been on v5.80 for a few weeks).  Previously my headphones were working fine, but now they lose connection every 5-10 minutes, seemingly only during activities.

  • The only SLIGHT fix I've found is I've noticed my headphones tend to pick back up if I scroll away from the workout screen to the music screen.  it still drops out when I'm no the music screen, but not for as long, so I find it workable.  STILL, not acceptable for a not inexpensive watch. If this is unfixable, all these watches should be replaced by Garmin, since they are specifically sold for the music capabilities.
