Possible fix for not being able to connect headphones

I had a real issue with connecting my Jaybird X3's to my Vivoactive 3 Music, after a bit of google acrobatics trying to find a fix I saw that while many (most) seem to have issues with this headphones and garmin watches in general, some reviews and people seem to have no issues at all.

I tried resetting my headphones, tried turning off any bluetooth device within 10 meters etc. the problem was always the same. I could pair the headphones no problem but no matter what they wouldn't connect.
So I finally reset my watch, not the data just settings and re-paired, after that I've had no issues at all connecting, no drops.

While not a questions, as I had so much problems getting this to work and Garmin support never lists try reseting device I wanted to leave this here for prosperity.
As I found one post here from like 2 years ago asking about the exact same issue but with no responses and it got me thinking about "Wisdom of the Ancients"

Yes!  Quite agree with the cartoon.  And this finally helped me solve a connection between a set of bluetooth Sennheiser headphones and a new Garmin Venu Sq music edition.   The watch would see the headphones but refused to pair at all, rather than connecting and subsequently losing the connection as many others have reported (although that may be the next problem but fingers crossed...).

I had already tried all options of turning off all bluetooth / getting out of range etc, software upgrades etc etc and checked the spec of the headphones (BT5 so no reason not to pair and no joy.   Then I read this and did a reset on the settings on the watch, after which I was immediately able to pair the headphones.

However....... I then had big problems reconnecting the watch to my phone and the Garmin Connect App.  Did forget device and reinstall in the app and in bluetooth settings but still problems.  I have finally sorted it, but not by any logical replicable route.  Just resetting and crashing half a dozen times.   At one point I had Spotify playlists downloaded to the watch and the sound was playing out of the phone which was not running the app so it was definitely the watch doing the driving, so together with all the other problems it suggests that the watch struggles with pairing to more than one device, and this was behind the original problem in hooking up the headphones, but anyway I finally have it set up, music downloaded  and the headphones functioning, for now.

The other big problem i had to start with was the inability of the watch to connect via WiFi to download playlists.  Finally sorted that thanks to another forum comment which highlighted the problem of using a Three 4G connection router which was on 5mghz instead of 2.4.  Still had a problem even switching to 2.4mgz on the connection, but finally overcame by disconnecting from the 4G router altogether and using my iphone personal hotspot function instead.

Really it shouldn't be this hard.  And no points to US chat who suggested that I had incompatible headphones - I could have gone out and spent another £150 and not resolved the problem.
