Inaccurate GPS?

Hi All,

I got a vivoactive 3 about 12 months ago, and have always been suspicious of its ability to accurately track my GPS. I would do 5km Strava segments and it would only record 4.9km or so, annoying but not enough to be too stressed about. However, I have recently moved to a more built up area and have seen the GPS doing weird things. I expect it to be a little out of whack with buildings around, but it isn't very consistent even with itself given I run the same route. For example, what is 3km on one run, might be 2.9km on another, or 3.1km on another. I added an extra part to the beginning of my run yesterday, I estimated about 150m extra and my 1km marker was in the same spot it had been previously. I have noticed the GPS is getting worse and worse over the last 2 weeks or so, so I decided to track on my iPhone 11 Pro using Strava and my watch and check the differences. To note, my usual 3km marker on my vivoactive3 was at 2.79km today.

Checkpoint comparision:

Strava 1km = Vivoactive3 0.74km

Strava 2km = Vivoactive3 1.58km

Strava 2.5km = Vivoactive3 2.11km

These are huge discrepancies and much higher than I expected. I have done some research and it looks like some iPhone 11 Pro have GPS issues, specifically with Strava and giving faster runs, so I am not sure where the issue really lies? Any suggestions?

I am trying to dig up my receipt for my vivoactive3, I am pretty sure I purchased extended warranty and I am going to try and send it back as the incosistency in the distance isn't the only issue I have - I also have pretty significant HR reading issues on anything other than running, which seems to be a common issue.
