GPS no longer working Vivoactive 3

Hi,

ive been having trouble for months for my GPS on my Garmin Vivoactive 3 to work. It tracks activities but the GPS never works to show maps of my runs even when it flashes green.

the versions are:

GPS 2.50

SW version 7.30

connect IQ 3.1.8

is this a software issue?? I’ve only had my watch for a few years and it’s in great condition still so don’t really want to upgrade.

if anyone has any advice or is experiencing the same issue please share.

I need my gps to work. Please help!

The most likely reason is that the GPS was not active because your ephemeris data file expired or is damaged. Connect the watch with USB cable to the computer, and check for updates with Garmin Express. You need doing it regularly - GPS cannot work reliably and quickly without fresh ephemeris data. thanks for your response. I have tried downloading Garmin Express on my MacBook but it's not compatible. I have also tried and connected the watch on a PC and it worked but still no luck with GPS working

You did try installing the version for Mac? Garmin Express download for Mac

On your Mac you need OS X 10.11 or newer.

Yes, I have previously installed Garmin Express on a Windows PC and synced the watch about 2 months ago, but nothing had changed after doing that.

I would suggest doing it again. As trux mentioned, the GPS data file could be expired or corrupt. Syncing with Garmin Express should fix that.

If still no joy after that, consider a factory reset of the watch to put it back to out-of-the-box condition.
