Running pace well off

Hi guys!

I've read a few posts here about the same thing but with no real fix. Thought I would try and see if anyone else has any information.

I purchased my vivoactive 3 music last week. I run 4+ days a week and im pretty consistent with pace. Today was the first time I took the watch out and I was very frustrated with the pace being off so much. Im usually around a 4min/km pace running with my fitbit versa/strava for the past 3 years, but this watch was telling me I couldn't even break the 5min/km mark. And for a few kms I was really trying. To the point I was almost sprinting.

Got to about 4.40 going all out. This isn't what i purchased a gps watch for.

Has anybody found any information regarding this issue? I'm pretty keen to take this back and get a refund if it is just something that is a common and unfixable issue.

I understand that even strava and phone gps could be too quick normally, but either way id much rather not have spent $400+ dollars to have my confidence crushed by such an amount and have people I workout with or have on strava think that ive just undone years of work. No ego.

    Hi!

I am having exactly the same issue. It seems to be an issue with the GPS. I bought my watch last week, wanting a device that would accurately measure distance and therefore pace. I went out for the first time with the watch on a route that measures approx 5.25km (as measured consistently by Strava/map my run/Nike run) but my Garmin only measured 5.0km so the distance was about 250m off - doesnt sound like a lot but it actually has a fairly significant impact on the pace measuring and of course, the longer you run, the more of an impact this will have (for a 10k run, missing 500m, etc etc). I have tried recommended fixes by changing GPS settings to GPS +GLONASS and changing data recording to "every second" but unfortunately there has been no change. Would be good to hear any other recommendations as I am also considering returnig the watc/switching for a different model.

Disappointing that for something so expensive could be so obviously flawed and garmin have no answers. I'll be returning mine and buying another brand gps watch that actually works

I am assuming we are still able to return even if we have registered the device and used it?
