Hi
For the last few weeks I’ve been running again after 6 months off.
Very demotivating is the fact that my VO2Max has gone from showing me as being good for someone 20yrs younger than I am (wrong) to being in the bottom 50% for my age (Also wrong…I hope).
I thought today’s long run, where I was almost setting a record for myself would perk up my score. Instead it gave me my lowest score ever, but I think, after reading here about how the Garmin uses the green zone for calculations, I figured out why…
In the past I’ve always set HR zones have always been way above Garmin’s. I’ve used a modified Karvonen or Zoladz (from https://www.fitdigits.com/personalized-heart-rate-zones.html )
Which makes Green the ideal 10k comfortable pace for me.
But recently I’ve left my Garmin on defaults so my entire 10k was in Orange and Red.
So now I’m not sure what To do. Although Garmin lets you change your HR zones, and I’ve done that in the past, isn’t the whole system designed to be most accurate when default zones are used?
