Vivoactive 3 has stopped recording distance when I run

Hi,

Last week my vivoactive 3 suddenly stopped recording distance whilst running. It times my run, show my HR and strangely shows a pace but for the whole run the distance sits at zero. At the end of my run the device will not save any data and will not upload any statistics. Please can you advise how to resolve this issue as I have tried to go through all the settings but cannot find anywhere to allow me to check that the GPS is working correctly even though it tells me that GPS is ready at the start of my run.

Thanks, Richard

  • I have been distracted at times and simply forgot to hit the green save button. Do you remember to actually save the activity at the end? I have been distracted at times and simply forgot to hit the green save button.

Also, there are options for the GPS when you first choose a GPS-based activity. For example, choose run but before hitting the start button, scroll down to settings/GPS.

  • Have you tried:

    1) turning off your watch and restarting

    2) hard restart - holding in on the button for 10-20 seconds until the watch shuts down and then hit the button again to restart.  (I would recommend doing this at the start of a day because often you will loose your tracking activity for the day you do this)

Thanks for your response. Its not the saving that is the problem, the distance counter just sits at zero as I am running even though the pace is showing and when I do save it it records no activity. I hadn't spotted the settings area when you select an activity so thanks for that tip. Unfortunately this didn't work as when I go in there it says the GPS in on so I seem to be at a loss. Cheers Richard.

Thanks for your advice. I have tried both your your suggestions but unfortunately neither have worked all very frustrating, I just don't understand what has happened to it. Cheers Richard

Also starting having this issue yesterday- wondering if it's a software update issue? it also seems to not save (constantly sits on the "saving" screen)

Mine was also stuck on saving as well

  • anyone solve this? mine started doing same this week
1st run wouldn't save, so lost everything

2nd run saved but said distance 0.00, time ok. it has actually uploaded to Strava ok

But something not right with it!

Mine resolved itself but I did get software update and I reset (removed all settings and data) the watch.  I did this for another reason.  It stopped connecting to my bose headphones.  Headphones connected to everything else except for my watch.  Anyways after that reset I was able to see pace, distance and it saved activity fine.

  • thanks for update branden.dodge

sort of working. i found a golf .fit file in GARMIN/NewFiles   Folder. Moved to Score where they should be and that now shows
i've been running latest beta fine for a month now, but lately a few glitches with runs and not all golf rounds show
    look forward to next update!
