Slow to detect accurate HR

I understand this has been discussed previously but most of the threads were older and more importantly, none had a solution.  My VA3 is slow to register increased heart rate- often taking more than 10 minutes.  But tonight,  I found a textbook example of the problem I could demonstrate.  I got onto my elliptical and went as fast as I could stand.  After the first minute, I could feel my chest pounding.  It wasn't until the 10 minute mark that the watched turned accurate.  To be clear, I didn't do anything special or different, I just kept the same 100% effort for the 30 minute session- but enough talk.  A picture is worth a thousand words.

    Hello,
exactly the same problem for me, since the begining (05/2018). I've tried everything, lick my skin (!), shave my skin (!), tightening the strap, put it on right arm... Warming up during ten minutes before exercise works sometime, but it's not a solution, warming up without HR :-(

I end up with buying an external monitor, which is a good solution for planned exercise, but it's very frustrating, if you have not planned an activity, you don't have the external monitor on the bag...

What is frustrating too, is that my son's Apple Watch do not have this kind of problem and Garmin is sports focused. :-(
