It is up to the bank to decide if they want to offer it. You can always get a free account from the fintech banks (in NL I use OpenBank which offers a free account with support for Garmin Pay).
There is a separate thread announcing you can use Curve with any card in the UK: forums.garmin.com/.../you-can-now-add-all-uk-bank-cards-to-garmin-pay-by-using-curve
The prefect solution IMHO would be for Garmin to support Google Pay
Yeah, for me this would make more sense. How may pay services do we need?
Actually you can get Google Pay on Wear OS ;-) Sorry to become technical, Garmin supports Secure Element (a chip inside the watch certified for payment cards) and the standard solution provided by the payment schemes. There is no way they could use Google Pay unless they switch to Wear OS which would be a software only solution. So, no way they can and would choose to support Google Pay.
On the number of payment solutions, Be prepared for more vendors rather than less, We are fotunate that not one vendor like Google controls the market, I like diversity. I only wish Garmin Pay would work a bit more consistent, it loses my card once in a while and I have to re-enrol it.
Noooooes... I would NEVER EVER let Google anywhere near my payment history.. Same reason I don't use Apple Pay on m h iPhone.
