Is there a way to disable vibrations?

Is there a way to disable vibrations on select items?

It's fair that the watch vibrates when it thinks you need to move to make you aware of it, but the "Activity log cleared" warning, which I have absolutely no influence over or use for, also vibrates and it happens 5+ times per day.

  • Yes.

    1. On the watch touch and hold your finger on the watch face to bring up the main menu

    2. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select "Settings"

    3. Scroll to the bottom of that menu and select "System"

    4. Scroll down to the 2nd to last item which is "Vibration"

    5. Change the intensity of the vibrartion by touching the word and selecting "Low" or if you want it off completely, tap the green slider to the right of the word "Virbrarion" to turn it off.  Getting those sliders to change can be a bit of a trick, so lightly tap it until it flight up and to a grey color

  • But this is a general vibration intensity setting, not (as I read it) enable/disable per item. E.g. I wasnt to disable vibration for "Activity log cleared" and have it enabled for the Move-warning.

  • The Vibration setting is a global for all reasons the watch may vibrate.  Unfortunately you can not set it to vibrate with some functions and not with others.  It's all on or all off and one intensity setting.  This goes for move alerts, auto lap during activities, incoming messages, etc..

The one place you have a fraction of additional control is if you dont want it to vibrate at night you can enable Do Not Disturb mode.  It will then not vibrate during your chosen Do Not Disturb time window but sounds like that is not quite what you are trying to solve.

  • Yeah, I know vibrations are all off, during my preset sleeping hours.. I just want to have control over when things makes it vibrate.

Having control of when you want to be notified by a vibration is very reasonable.

Garmin should let the user select how he / she wants to receive each notification.

For example yesterday when I was doing something that requires full attention the watch buzzed like crazy just to tell me I completed all the stairs...

    Come on Garmin.

  • Only setttings high medium low. At Low I still don't like it. No way to disable completely. Not what I expected. If I don't want to know I don't want the vibration. Wear the watch and be a slave - not an option.

Is this the same with all watches?

  • Me too! So strange this hasn't been fixed in 3 years
