Bluetooth not Working

Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music. I have been using this watch, like 3 times a week for the past 7 months. Currently no Bluetooth functionality whatsoever.

The VA3 cannot connect to any device or accessory ( like bluetooth earbuds) via bluetooth. My phone cannot see the VA3 or connect to it via bluetooth. However, my phone pairs easily with my bluetooth earbuds from 30 ft away.

So far I have 1). restarted the watch and the phone multiple times 2). Connected to Garmin Express Sync'ed my watch to Garmin Connect via my desktop computer and via Wi-Fi network. Everything is up to date. 3). Reset the watch to factory settings 4). Tried to manually search for / pair with bluetooth devices via the VA3 interface-- nothing.

I am getting the 6-digit number strings displaying on the watch face. Seem to be random. I don't get it.
I have browsed other threads with no answers. Can anyone help?

Thank you

  • I'm sure you did but I have to ask. Did you pair through the Connect app? Is Bluetooth in pairing mode on the watch when you try?

Those are good questions. Let me work through that: As far as I know I did NOT attempt pairing through the Garmin Connect phone app. I typically don't use my phone on this way. I either sync/upload data from my watch via Wi-Fi ( I use Garmin Connect on my desktop PC w/ a web browser), or I just plug it into the PC via USB port. I have the Garmin Connect app installed on my phone but I don't use it. I'm really just trying to get the watch to pair with my earbuds again!

As far as "Pairing Mode", Here is my process: using the menu on the phone I go to: Settings_Sensors & Accessories_Add New_ Headphones ( or Search All)........
I will get a message "NO sensors found"

maybe I'm doing something wrong? But it shouldn't be this hard lol

OK I just got the watch to pair with the earbuds again. I had to complete the factory reset, and then have my phone off / out of range so that the earbuds would go into pairing mode ( and not just automatically connect with my phone)--- and then the watch could "see" them and connect..
