VA3 doesn't count steps from my desk treadmill

I use the Vivoactive 3 with HR. I just got a desk treadmill for my standing desk. I'm often walking at a 1.2 - 1.3 mph for hours while working but my device isn't counting any steps at all. I tried strapping it on my ankle but that didn't do it either.

Any advise? Thanks in advance.

I think you're damping the vibration your VA3 needs to sense steps. It's the equivalent to hanging on to the handlebars on a regular treadmill or pushing a grocery store cart.

I can understand that since my arms and hands on on my desk and keyboard but why wouldn't it pick up my steps when strapped to my ankle?

I agree with you there Metro. If it’s around your ankle it should work. I’ve done that at work because we can’t wear jewelry. It should also work in your pocket. Have you tried walking normally with the watch around your ankle ?

yes. doesn't count steps while i'm on the treadmill

Unfortunately, it will not count steps unless you are actually moving the arm consistently.

My VA3 actually OVERCOUNTS my steps when I strap it to my ankle. I'd love for it to accurately count my steps when I'm at my treadmill desk as well.
