Questions about VO2 Max

I see in the activity reports of Garmin express, that there are two VO2 Max reports.

The first one is for All activities.

The second is for the Biking activity.

In my case, I only record biking activities. But the VO2 Max for Biking is 0 (the All activities VO2 Max has a value).

Is it normal that there is no Biking VO2 Max computed?

Is it a bug or should I do something special in the watch setup to get it ?

  • If I recall, to get vo2 max when biking you need a power sensor, and those aren't supported on the va3

  • I have a Edge 530 with a power meter and the VO2 max number does get pushed to the VA3. Interestingly it doesn't specify if its a bike or running VO2 max, just a number. As Jim states, the VA3 doesn't support a power meter on its own.

    Thanks for the explanations.

In the biking report, the user can easily understand that a power sensor is needed to get power measures.

But there is no warning for the Biking VO2 Max.

Therefore, the lack of this VO2 Max is unclear, the more there is a All activity VO2 Max computed.

-> Please, dear Garmin, can you add the caution message about the need of a power sensor, in the biking VO2 Max and in Garmin Connect help.
