Vivoactive 3 wrist band skin irritation

I got the Vivoactive 3 for my two teenagers few months ago and both of them got allergic reactions with a rash in their wrists.  My son’s rash faded over time however my daughter’s rash got worst to the point she’s not using the watch. I see that a previous discussion thread about this same topic has been closed so I can’t reply to add to it. I’m wondering if anybody else with similar problems got band replacement or a solution from Garmin ?

It's probably not the band, but how they do or don't clean it! In the thread you mentioned, a differently intelligent person was cleaning hers with alcohol...

  • It probably IS the band.  I've had the same issue for the last few months and only thought to Google this today - turns out there's plenty of threads on here about this and it's a known issue.  What I haven't discovered yet is if Garmin is offering replacement bands.  I've worn various Garmins / watches over the years and have never had this happen before.  Seems to be peculiar to the rubber band that is shipped with the VivoActive 3.

  • I had a llitle bit of irritation as well from the standard silicon strap. It does not breathe and seals the skin. I replaced it with a nylon strap and it is much more comfortable. It's a Samsung Gear Sport strap actually Slight smile

Had the same issue which disappeared after replacing the band with the one from Xiaomi which was purchased for $1.24 on Aliexpress.

I have been getting a rash as well with my Garmin Vivoactive 3 since I bought it and started wearing it. I clean it regularly and still get the burning rash. I have to go a few days without it, or until the rash clears up. This is a regular problem. I replaced my Fitbit Versa with the Garmin. I never got the rash with the Fitbit.

I have bought separate trap, and it helped to skin irritation, at little bit at least. So I recommend to change the standard silicon trap to something else. But yesterday, like during 30sec, I got Burns to my wrist. Just under the lamps, so are they overheating or what??? It burns like a hell and now it looks like that. Software version 6.6

It's the band. I got terrible eczema under mine - I switched to a metal band that I got off of Amazon (a milanese band), and my rash cleared within 2 days. The band doesn't breathe and caused irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin. Your daughter might need some hydrocortisone to calm the reaction. Also, have them take them off at night and wash the band/watch regularly (wipe down with warm water or dish soap). It helped resolve my issues.

  • Same here. I just read a thread that was posted a year ago about the same issue. I don't notice the redness, itchiness or peeling when wearing a 3rd party band. I've worn watches my entire life (many different types of materials) and this has never happened. I have a Vivoactive 3.

I purchased a NotoCity 20mm Band Compatible Samsung Galaxy Watch 42mm Silicone Watch Band for Samsung Gear Sport/Garmin Vivoactive 3/Huawei 2 Smartwatch from Amazon for $8.99. u haven't experienced any irritation.

I have had my VA3m for 9 mths and only now I am getting the Burning Itchy rash

for me it appears to be directly under the HB Lights not on the charging port side

I do wash every 2 days and dry each time

Same comments. Reaction and smell no matter how much I clean it. Which now is daily
