Stock watchface messed up during activity

When I'm in an activity and want to know the time I used to be able to swipe right and the Garmin stock watchface would appear.

Since the recent firmware upgrade to 4.50, the watchface has been replaced by lots of small battery % values scattered across the screen. This is fine for knowing how much battery is left but doesn't help with the time.

Anyone seen this or found a workaround? Watch is a va3m

I do what you say all the time (swipe right during an activity) and I still get the time. I am on 4.50 VA3M too...

I think i figured it out. There's some initialisation bug where if no stock watchface is selected the display gets messed up.

I found that by selecting a stock watchface then changing back to my IQ watchface the problem goes away. I have to select a stock item once, whichever I choose is remembered and shows up in the activity.
