Failing to measure sleep

I recently had my device replaced as it was failing badly to track any activity and always wore my device to bed.  It did track my sleep patterns but the new unit does not track sleep and I have to manually enter the sleep time into the mobile app.  Is there a device setting I have forgotten to activate?
