Font Size vs Fenix 5

So I have both devices and I am trying to decide which one to keep. I might be imagining this but the fonts seem bigger and easier to read on the Fenix 5 vs the VivoActive 3. Has anyone made the switch from the 5 down to the Vivo 3 and noticed this? Without my glasses I am having a hard time read the Vivo3 text.

  • the two biggest differences are touch screen and weight. the fenix 5 does much more. I prefer the vivoactive because i dont need tge extra stuff and don't want the extra weght.
  • Garmin certainly do not put accessibility high on the priority list, some of the fonts on the VA3 are very difficult to read and without my glasses are impossible to see, and in some tough intervals on the treadmill and I think even with perfect eye sight there might be problems. They need to take a look at the (sadly no longer available) Microsoft Band, even the Fenix 3 was better..

I really like some of the widgets on the Fenix 5 like the sunrise/set and the alternate time zones. I hope they bring those to the VA3
  • If not, there are widgets for those in the CIQ app store.

NICE! I didnt even think about looking there. Cripes! Thank you!!!
  • The font size on the VA-3 is small.  I measure the numerals at 1/4 inch, 6 mm height.  I do stairclimbs and can read the numbers outside, but indoors, in dimly lit stairways, I need my reading glasses...and it is not a good idea to wear reading glasses when you are climbing stairs!  BTW, I have a "Lifetrack Trainer", which I picked up a few years ago for $25 (not a smartwatch), with a smaller screen than the VA-3, and the numerals in the stopwatch are 1/2 inch, 12 mm high, much easier to read.  Could Garmin please provide a software patch to increase the size of the numbers, particularly if using the 1, 2, or 3 fields per screen layout?  Or is there any other way to increase the font size?  Thanks.
