The 6.20 update bricked my watch. This is the second time, strange as it sounds.
Last night my watch updated and this morning it was dead. If I turn it on, I see the Garmin logo for a second, followed by the download screen, which shows no progress for about fifteen seconds. Then switches off. I can do this again and again.
This also happened with the 6.1 update. I had exactly the same symptoms and contacted Garmin support, which did their best to help but finally gave up and told me to take it back to the retailer. My watch was just out of warranty, so the plan was to have it repaired.
On the day I planned to take it in, it suddenly turned on, downloaded the update and started up. This was about two weeks after it had died and it had just been lying on my bedside table.
It has been fine since. Until last night, that is.
So now what? Do I just leave it a few days and hope it comes back all by itself, or do I take it in for repairs? The second option will cost money and may involve it just coming back to life again.
Things I've tried:
1. Switching it on (many times).
2. Booting it while connected to the PC.
3. Charging it. It seems to do nothing, but the watch was on around 60% yesterday, so I don't expect that to make a difference anyway.
4. Long-pressed the power button in the hope it would trigger some kind of hard reset.
5. Glaring at it with my sternest facial expression.
None of these worked. For the 6.10 update, ignoring it for two weeks worked, but I don't feel like doing that for every software update.
