GPS 2.50 firmware update

Just got an update to GPS 2.50 via Garmin Express.
Was wondering what it is supposed to do differently (hopefully better)?
Anyone have any news?
  • Tried to install this on my wifes VA3 using Garming Express and all looked fine, but after restart the watch still report GPS 2.30. What to do? The SWREMOTE folder is empty and GE doesn't detect any more updates. A "long press on button until shuts down" is not making any difference either.
  • 935 guys are seeing massive improvements with GPS+Galileo and v2.50 (https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/running/forerunner-935-aa/1459190-gps-2-50). I thought 2.30 was pretty good already.

When I first installed via Garmin Expressed and checked on the watch it said that the GPS version was 0.0. I re-synced and restarted the watch but not change.
Subsequently, I went outside in the freezing could to get a GPS fix and then canceled out of the run. Then the GPS version was 2.50!

This morning on the way into work, the watch restarted on it's own. I checked and the software version for GPS was again 0.0 Again getting a GPS fix, it gave the correct SW version as 2.50.

Neither Garmin Express nor Garmin Mobile checks to see what you have currently on the watch - they just push through the new versions whether you already have them or not.

The same for me, v. 0.0. The GPS always takes so long to find my position (especially to put the watch on time with the GPS).

A 935 guy, not 935 guys. One person posted this. No one else has said they've seen this "massive improvement" as of yet.
  • From my experience of using GPS+Galileo for about 2 months with several comparison with previous GPS only runs the accuracy is improved most of the time.

I was able to update to GPS v2.50. After the update I got v0.00 but a GPS fix and a discarded activity solved that.
  • But my wifes doesn't say 0,00, it's still 2.30 and a satellite fix doesn't change that, so the question is how can I try to update again? Maybe extracting the GPS part from the latest Fenix beta and put in REMOTESW folder, are they compatible?
  • Is it an APAC device?

No.It's running v5.90 and I could see the GPS 2.50 and some time zone update in the queue at the Garmin Connect website, but the only thing that got installed was the timezone thing and now the queue is empty...
