Treppensteigen Etagenanzahl vollkommen ungenau

Hi,

Stefan

stevebiker Hello Stefan. Your watch uses the barometric altimeter for floor counting, so even if you were able to get a good GPS signal in the building it would be no help. Since you're doing your floors at the same location, there may be a few reasons why you're getting different results. It's possible there was a change in pressure, but this is very unlikely. The speed you take your floors can be a factor, or if you skip stairs. It could also be the exposure of the barometer port. Was it uncovered before and now covered with a sleeve? Covered both times, but with a thicker material? Moisture from sweat or water may be in the port. The port may have been partially blocked from how it was worn one time on the wrist from another due to movement. For the most part I find floor counting OK at best. Here's my perspective. You have a device that cost around $250 US. Garmin is in business to make money, so their obviously making a profit. After production and materials for everything your watch can do, what is the cost and quality of that tiny barometric altimeter sensor we're relying on? If we were to spend $250 on a barometric altimeter alone, I'm sure we'd see more precise results. We all want consistent and accurate readings (and there's nothing wrong with that), but in reality, it is what it is.

Used to have no issues recording close to correct number of floors. Since 5.90 SW update I've had the same issue where counts somewhere between 3 & 6 floors accurately. Then stops counting.

    Hello TMK17, Oldnwise,

TMK, all criteria are always the same! No sleeves over the device, always almost the same speed, I don't let the change of air pressure apply to the same extent, I am a sailor and mountain biker, I know how minimal it is! If at 12 floors approx. 10% inaccuracy occurs, I let it be valid and good! But 50% gstern, instead of 12 6 and today, even more extreme, instead of 12 only 4 counted, correct, at the beginning, up arrived I was happy. But then the device simply stopped! It didn't count the floors that had been covered downwards, nor all the following ones! With 12 floors up and down only 4 floors were counted up! As written yesterday, manually started! I almost banged the device against you concrete balustrade!
I don't know how to proceed! Probably it would be best to return the device!
Oldnwise, it reassures me a little that I am not alone! But comfort is not that! My experience with Garmin, negative throughout, continues!
    What are you doing?
