VA 3 Music on 3.60, IQ Store says it needs an update to download Spotify

Hi all! Just got home from the store to buy a brand-new VA 3 Music and I'm super excited about it! The first thing I did (after the updates were done...) was run to the IQ Store to get Spotify but it says I need to update my watch? Every source I have shows the watch is at 3.60, which is the newest firmware from what I've seen, so I'm not sure what's going on here...

Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know how to fix it? This was a really big point for me so I'm a little disheartened right now...

Well, I'm not sure what I did differently but I just managed to get it downloaded no problem.

All I can think is something didn't fully take when I disconnected it from my PC last time and when I plugged it back in to try again, whatever got stuck worked itself out.

So, for future reference, if anyone else has this issue, try disconnecting the watch from your computer and then connecting it again! I have no idea why it worked this time, but it did!
  • Edit: whoops never mind. Well if anyone ever has this problem, they can do that ^ and if that doesn’t work, the below procedure which is 100X more complicated :p.

Try plugging your watch into a computer with USB cable. If you have a Mac you will need: https://www.android.com/filetransfer/

Browse to the watch’s file system and look for devices.xml in the /GARMIN/ folder. Sometimes this file has the wrong version which confuses the store. You can verify this if you open it in Notepad or TextEdit and search for <FirmwareVersion>. If the following text is not 360, then devices.xml is out of sync with your actual firmware version.

    To fix this problem:
    1) Make a copy of devices.xml and delete it. Sync with Garmin Express on your PC/Mac
    or
    2) Manually edit devices.xml so the firmware version is 360.
