Intensity minutes and Swimming

I've noticed that swimming minutes are not reported as Intensity activites, that should change.
  • This is because there is no heart rate data for swimming activities.
  • But it doesn't add it even when you DO use the Garmin HR chest strap device which adds all the HR data to your swimming activity.

  • If you mean the HRM-Tri/HRM-Swim straps, then the vivoactive 3 does not support them anyway. And if you meant how it works on other devices, then yes, only live HR data provides intensity minutes. HR data downloaded from the strap post-activity doesn't count.

  • But why? I swim my guts out and it doesn't count as intensity while an easy walk does? It should be very easy to solve. I've seen this problem reported several times. Why Garmin is not responding?

  • But why?

    Does it matter why?

    It should be very easy to solve.

    But it would require to add swimming HR support for the VA3 in the first place. Easy or not, Garmin won't do it.

    Why Garmin is not responding?

    Again, does it matter why? Would it help you with your intensity minutes if you new the reason?

    Don't worry. Your fitness still improves, even though your watch doesn't know about it Slight smile

    Why???

    Because I paid $900 dollars for an "intelligent" watch (Dive Mk1) to help track my activity and assist me in getting I to shape. Garmin should be be able to have a developer add a couple lines of code to the Gain Connect app that says;

    IF "HeartRateData" exists in "SwimmingActivity" then (call function) calculate intensity minutes.

    Definitely not rocket science here.

    You misunderstood my question. I was asking "Why do you need to know the reason?". How would that help you get intensity minutes for swimming?
